The tread-mill, is it virtual, is it real? Are we on one at all? Is that all there is? Our younger friends say we need to jump onto the NFT tread mill and create virtual art, for virtual money so we can get rich, or something like that. Is art real or just a representation of "reality", inner and outer?
Artworks used to be able to be touched, held, hung. Now they can be virtual, traded with virtual money. Some say that its the same as cash, as our government prints dollars as needed, now major corporations accept bitcoin as payment. Does anything back bitcoins up? Is it safe from hackers, or YOU if you forget your password? Do Bitcoins contribute to global warming with computers cranking away infinitely?
As I look at Wheel of Fortune, above, I'm thinking how cool it would be if the cogs turned, the man running with a moving landscape. But then I thought, would a Bitcoin lover want this art? Its the antithesis of what all Bitcoins represent, getting ahead, getting more and more money, more stuff.
Would they like "Sharing the Wealth", maybe with a hamburger that flies at you?

Would Bitcoiners share? Or are they better at flinging and flaunting?
or below
"Will Work for Food"
You can't drop a bit coin into a homeless vet's cup, although some of our friends are feeding people with NFT proceeds. Good for them!

"Bitter Harvest"
Would the golden rich living in golden towers care about the people below, looking for anything real? I don't think there are any Bitcoins on the ground there. But enough with satyrical materialistic commentary.
Whom can we TRUST?
If I had a million or two in bitcoins I would found a museum, for all the great artists in our extended family. I would create a TRUST to fund a real building, managed by real people, a place to entrust all the art that has no where to live, safe from neglect, forest fires, hurricanes, for the future that anyone could see.
Why a Trust? because there has been too much death happening, and my soul has been quickened by all the people we have lost, with more to come. I had to stop counting. A "Forever" Virus is difficult to wrap your head around. And what are you going to do with your collection of vinyl, rock posters, or what ever you collect. Think about it? We had to clear out loved ones houses pronto, and I'm sure they would have preferred to find good homes for their stuff! And what made it precious? The thing, or what the thing meant.
Last but not least, more stuff. THINGS. More STUFF. A friend came by and asked me to design a pair of boots using a part of La Semillera. He wanted the shirt that the painter at the bottom of the image is wearing, So I made a pair with koi fish and lotus blossoms.

Not too shabby, so if you want a custom THING, like boots, clothing, shower curtains, an umbrella, rugs, give me an email, I'll see I can come up with your hearts desire and custom make your THING from Mark's art, for something that you can hold in your hand, walk in or on.
Below, all the stuff that has been worked up so far here on Acidmath.

POST PANDEMIC TRAVELING
We actually traveled for the first time in over a year. We were invited to help initiate a new farm/art-center/event space in Puerto Rico. The long awaited traveling part was awful. The freedom we were experiencing left a lot to be desired. Crowded airports, being in an overstuffed airplane for hours, delayed planes, I didn't see one happy camper.
Once we got to Puerto Rico, it was wonderful. A beautiful island, polite and happy people. Parts of the country are still recovering from Hurricane Maria, the jungles were missing the tallest trees. The covid restrictions were tighter than the are in the U.S. but I did not hear a single person complain about masks, social distancing, nada. The only grumps were rude tourists who wanted to bring their anxiety and anger with them.
Upcoming events (pandemic willing)
A real gallery show in a castle in Spain, Liba Stambolian in charge, our fingers are crossed; a virtual streaming show in Brazil; A Chico Art Gallery of Master Painters; the Vision Train keeps chugging along, maybe a September event at the Black Oak Ranch all in the maybe stage.
More about these as they develop.
Until then, stay safe, stay well. Love as much as you can.
Peace!
